What is a "mini-batch"?
A "mini-batch" is a test you can perform by making asmall, 1 liter batch using 1 liter of oil, 200ml methanol and 3.5-6g of lye yielding biodiesel that will confirm that the target oil is either suitable or unsuitable to be used. If a 100ml test sample is set aside, you will get confirmation that you have achieved a "Good Crack" and you will see two distinct layers. There should be a 10 - to 12% dropout of glycerin. One will be gylcerin and the other Bio. If it has not converted properly, you only have a 1 liter sample to dispose of rather than a full batch of 40-80 gallons.
